Education as the engine of developed India @ 2047: Politics, Priorities and Pathways
Abstract
India’s vision of becoming a fully developed nation by 2047 the centenary of its independence places education at the center of its developmental strategy. This paper explores how education can function as the primary catalyst for national transformation by examining the interrelated dimensions of politics, priorities, and systemic pathways. It argues that political will, policy coherence, and effective governance are essential for translating educational reforms into tangible outcomes. The analysis highlights the imperatives of universal access, equity, and quality across all levels of education, emphasizing the need for teacher empowerment, digital integration, and robust public-private partnerships. Drawing upon global experiences and successful Indian models, the paper identifies key strategies for building inclusive and future-ready learning ecosystems. It concludes that India’s journey toward “Developed India @ 2047” will depend not only on economic advancement but, more fundamentally, on unlocking the nation’s human potential through a dynamic, equitable, and high-quality education system that prepares citizens to lead in an increasingly complex and interconnected world.
